LifeWorks – our global family leave scheme

LifeWorks reflects the many different paths people take to parenthood and our leave entitlements are designed to help support people in their individual situations.

We know that finding the balance between a high performing career and spending time with our families can at times be demanding. When the balance is right, it’s rewarding. That’s why we have developed a suite of offerings to support parents and working families.

Our market-leading global parental leave policy is available to all employees with 12 months’ service. Regardless of gender or parental role we offer all our employees 26 weeks fully paid leave, when welcoming a new member of their family.

This includes up to 12 weeks fully paid neonatal care, 10 days fully paid leave for fertility treatment and 4 weeks fully paid leave (before 20 weeks of pregnancy) for women or anyone suffering a pregnancy loss directly or up to 26 weeks fully paid leave (after 20 weeks pregnancy) regardless of gender or parental role.

We offer global coaching. This is available for individuals, to help them transition into parenthood, and for managers to help break down biases and navigate the impact on the business. As well as offering access to back-up childcare and 5 days fully paid emergency family leave.

Legal Director, UK

“Clyde & Co’s new parental leave policy enabled me to spend a significant period of quality time with my daughter at a really important time in her development. I now have a closer relationship with her than I would have had if I hadn’t been able to spend that time with her. As a family, now that my wife, who is also a solicitor, and I are both back at work and our daughter is in nursery, the policy has helped to ensure that we split things like nursery drop-offs and pick-ups and bedtimes equally between us, which probably wouldn’t have been the case if I had just had two weeks of leave when she was born. It is great that Clyde & Co has taken a lead in this area and hopefully other firms will follow suit.”

“I am deeply grateful for Clyde & Co’s new parental policy. The 26 weeks of paid leave enabled me to comfortably take a year off, allowing me to spend invaluable time bonding with my child during those precious early months. Maternity leave can have a significant financial impact on women and their families, so this benefit really gave me peace of mind as I cared for and built cherished memories with my little one.”
