I enrolled on a legal secretarial course at Tameside College in Manchester after finishing school. I had several P.A/secretarial roles in large firms in Manchester City Centre, with each role I pursued I made sure it improved my experience and progressed my career and I also studied first line management at night school. I then moved to Dubai as a legal secretary in the Dispute Resolution team for Clyde & Co in September 2008.
What do I enjoy most about working at Clyde & Co? For me it's definitely the people. I have been here for 8 years now and obviously they change, however there seems to be a certain culture in the Dubai office which is friendly and sociable.

Within a year I was the deputy team leader and within two years became the team leader for DRG. I am currently the most experienced team leader in the Dubai office. I have helped with training and guidance for the team leaders in MENA, Singapore and Australia. I also spent two weeks in the Johannesburg office when it started up to help with settling in the new secretaries and case handlers.

I hadn’t heard of Clyde & Co when my recruiter put me forward for the role in the Dubai office (there was no Manchester or north of England presence in those days!). I researched the company and found that it was the largest international firm in the region, which appealed to me as it could be unsure territory going to a smaller, start up firm.  I would recommend Clyde & Co in Dubai to anyone as there is a great sense of community and you feel that you are being looked after. The management encourage social interaction with your colleagues and there is a very active Sports & Social Committee that arranges all types of events throughout the year. Personally, I have had chances for growth and development here that I might not have had with other firms. They recognise people who are ambitious and will support them to get where they want to be with their career.

What do I enjoy most about working at Clyde & Co? For me it's definitely the people. I have been here for 8 years now and obviously they change, however there seems to be a certain culture in the Dubai office which is friendly and sociable. I have mostly worked with the same partners for the whole time I have been here and have got a good relationship with them. The management is very supportive and responsive if any issues have arisen that I needed help with and I also really enjoy my role and the work I do.

I have been on the sports & social committee since I joined Clyde & Co and have recently taken over as chairperson. I have played in the netball team and I am currently playing on the touch rugby team. I also like to get involved in charity events as and when they come up.
