Clyde & Co appeals to me for two reasons: I have the chance to work within a truly international law firm on international projects, and I am consistently challenged. I've had the opportunity to progress my career far beyond what I anticipated in three years, and I'm confident there is more opportunity for me in the future.
We spend so much of our time at work so a good team is very important. I really enjoy working with other members of the business development team domestically and internationally, as well as the lawyers who sit within the international marine practice.
I have supported the marine and insurance groups on a number of large pitches for international clients. These projects require a lot of hard work and co-ordination, however they are also very rewarding. Projects like this have helped me build stronger project management skills, pragmatic communication and my commercial knowledge of the legal sector.
I recently participated in the Stepney Green Student Mentoring programme – philanthropic initiative organised through the CSR team in our London office. This programme has allowed me to contribute to my community with greater flexibility.
I am also a committee member of the Anglo-Australasian Lawyers Society in London. Having extra-curricular activities provides another avenue to develop skills beyond my day to day job, such as web design and e-commerce. This society also facilitates a strong networking platform.
As an expat I have found Clyde & Co very accommodating: I've been able to work within the Australian offices to spend more time with family when visiting home and I am also confident that when the time comes to pursue my next adventure I have the full support of my department to pursue opportunities in offices abroad.
