Charlie Hewitt

I knew that I wanted to pursue a legal career from around the age of fourteen; however at that time I did not know much about legal apprenticeships.

Despite university being the traditional route into the legal sector, I knew that I would personally benefit far more from hands on, practical experience and so when the opportunity to apply for an apprenticeship with Clyde & Co came about, I made sure that I took it with both hands. Being able to work for a market-leading company whilst obtaining legal qualifications has been invaluable to my career progression.

I have worked in a number of the personal injury departments across the firm’s insurance practice which has given me the opportunity to manage my own caseload, as well as assist senior fee earners with high value and complex matters. The exposure to this type of work has greatly enhanced my ability as a litigator. The legal knowledge and practical skills which I have developed over the course of my time at the firm have given me every confidence in my ability to provide a service for clients and in turn contribute to the success of the business.

Since starting at Clyde & Co back in September 2015 I have completed a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Legal Services and I am now going into the final year of my Level 6 Higher Apprenticeship. Following completion of this, I will qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer.
