Veer Shah is a pupil of our Nairobi Pupillage Programme 2026 cohort. Today, he shares with you his story.
"My pupillage at Clyde & Co’s Nairobi office has been an immensely rewarding and transformative experience.
I have had the privilege of working across the corporate & commercial, insurance, and dispute resolution departments each of which has provided unique learning opportunities and valuable exposure to different areas of legal practice.
One of the most eye-opening aspects of my pupillage at Clyde & Co was working on insurance-related matters which allowed me to develop a deep understanding of coverage advice, claims analysis and policy interpretation. The corporate & commercial departments exposed me to a range of transactional and advisory work, including legal research, contract review and corporate governance matters. Capping of my rotation at Clyde & Co, the dispute resolution department provided valuable exposure to litigation and alternative dispute resolution processes. I had the opportunity to assist with legal research, drafting, case preparation and strategy discussions.
Beyond the legal work itself, what has made my experience particularly memorable has been the people. From the outset, everyone at the firm has been welcoming, approachable, and generous with their time and knowledge. The supportive environment made settling into the firm seamless and fostered both my professional and personal growth.
Overall, my pupillage at Clyde & Co has equipped me with a strong foundation in legal practice, broadened my understanding of diverse areas of law and reinforced my commitment to pursuing a career dedicated to excellence, professionalism and client service.
I am grateful for the guidance, mentorship and opportunities I have received and look forward to carrying these lessons forward throughout my legal career."
