9:00 am to 9:10 am: Arrival to the office. I begin the day by checking for any emails and Teams messages that have come through overnight before updating my ongoing tasks list and planning my work for the rest of the day.
9:10 am to 10:00 am: I draft and send a memorandum of advice for the Financial Lines Team summarising the court filing systems in various Australian jurisdictions, including on how to create accounts for the systems to ensure we all have access to court files.
10:00 am to 10:15 am: Coffee break with the clerks.
10:15 am to 12:00pm: I conduct research into key trends for the financial lines market in Australia for 2025 to help in preparing an update on the state of the Australian market to London insurers who will be in Australia in a few months’ time.
12:00 pm to 12:35 pm: I attend a seminar on Clyde & Co’s Energy, Marine and Natural Resources practice where an overview of the area is provided to the clerks to help in us make a decision as to any possible future practice areas we want to explore.
12:35 pm to 1:35 pm: Lunch with the clerks.
1:35 pm to 2:00 pm: Along with the clerks, we acquire some equipment for the End of Clerkship Event that is traditionally hosted by the clerks at the end of the clerkship.
2:00 pm to 2:30 pm: I continue with my research task from earlier in the day.
2:30 pm to 2:45 pm: I have my end of clerkship review where my clerkship experience and my experience in my two practice area rotations was discussed.
2:45 pm to 3:45 pm: I go back to my research task from earlier in the day.
3:45 pm to 5:30 pm: Along with the other clerks, I help with some final preparations for the End of Clerkship Event, including acquiring non-alcoholic drinks for the event (and obtaining authorisation for the spending) and setting up for the event.
5:30 pm to 8:30 pm: End of Clerkship Event.
