Our Vacation Schemes

We run winter vacation schemes in both our Johannesburg and Cape Town offices, and can be flexible with the dates to fit with the term times at your university. The scheme is aimed at penultimate-year and final year law students.

Successful vacationers will be offered the opportunity to apply for our candidate attorney positions. As we know the importance of maximizing our candidates' exposure to all aspects of our specialised practice, we provide them with the appropriate guidance and training to ensure a meaningful experience. 

Candidates are given the opportunity to work closely with both associates and partners, while being given the freedom to act independently. A healthy balance is maintained between theoretical and practical tasks.

Application Process

  • You must be either a penultimate-year or final year law student
  • 70% overall academic average
  • BA Law, Bcom Law or LLB stream
  • Permanent South African residency

Ensure you submit your curriculum vitae, full academic transcript, ID copy, and matric certificate. Applications that do not comprise of all supporting documentation will be rendered as incomplete.

Once the application deadline has passed, eligible applicants will be sent our digital assessment.

You will find a variety of question types, including some video and written responses. Some of these questions may present you with a range of situations and challenges that you can expect to face as a trainee here at Clyde & Co. Think about how you would respond to the different challenges and opportunities you can expect as part of your daily work.

Some questions also focus on motivation for the role and what you can bring to the firm. Try to answer these honestly, as we want to know how you would respond authentically. We also want to give you the opportunity to learn more about Clyde & Co and the role you have applied for.
