Kristen Soto is a Senior Counsel based in our Los Angeles and Dallas offices. Today, she shares her story.
“I’m Kirsten Soto and I’m a Senior Counsel working out of Clyde & Co’s Los Angeles and Dallas offices. My practice focuses on advising and representing primary and excess insurers in complex insurance coverage and bad faith disputes. Because I am licensed in multiple jurisdictions (specifically, California, Texas, Virginia, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia), my practice includes monitoring and litigating cases across the United States.
My work includes advising insurers on claims handling and management of emerging risks associated with gig economy businesses, including short-term home rental companies, rideshare providers, and automated vehicle operators. I also present on evolving insurance coverage issues related to social media addiction and claims arising from the increasing use of GLP-1 weight loss drugs.
I enjoy working at Clyde & Co because it is a place that values collaboration. In my four years with the firm, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and work with fellow Clyde & Co attorneys in our London, Toronto, Montréal, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Miami offices. Working in a law firm that encourages coordinated efforts across offices and teams allows me and my colleagues to ensure our clients can obtain efficient and practical resolutions to disputes.
Outside of work, I enjoy taking my three dogs on walks, going horseback riding, and hiking. I’ve organized several group outings for my Clyde & Co colleagues, giving us the chance to explore fun destinations together and connect outside of the office.
When I’m not exploring the outdoors, you’ll find me training at my local boxing gym. In addition to training one-on-one with coaches, I’ve also done some sparring with fellow fighters at the gym. Boxing has taught me that careful preparation, and remaining calm when confronted with chaos, is the best strategy against any opponent.”
