Tommie Anne Côté is a Partner in our Montréal office. Today, she is sharing her story.
“My first experience at Clyde & Co was working as a receptionist while pursuing my law degree. Seeing so many inspiring women lawyers at our firm sparked my desire to become a lawyer and after a brief period away, I was able to join the firm again as a Senior Associate.
Today my practice is in Insurance and Trial & Defense. My interests have allowed me to effectively assist clients in navigating and mitigating complex risks across multiple jurisdictions, often working cross-border and leveraging our firm’s extensive global network. My career is shaped by high-stakes legal matters, strategic initiatives, and talent development.
Working at Clyde & Co means being part of a global community that values excellence, collaboration, and innovation. It’s rewarding to be part of an organization where my career has flourished from an entry-level role to partnership, supported by mentors and colleagues who embody those values daily.
I’m also currently pursuing an MBA focused on financial management and leadership, which means weekends often include classes and study time as I work toward completing the program in September 2025. During my first week of my MBA, I participated in an intense business management simulation where teams competed to maximize shareholder value. My team finished second and this experience laid the foundation to my journey toward completing my MBA degree.
When I’m not in the office, courtroom or classroom, you can find me when time lends itself to training in my mountains as an ultramarathon runner. Running not only helps me maintain a healthy balance, but also allows me the mental clarity needed to tackle the complexities of my professional life.”
